Outreach Services

Hostels Outreach - The service provides basic assistance, advocacy and referral services that enable residents to access the primary health care, addiction and accommodation services that can help improve their quality of life. As part of our outreach service, one of our project workers regularly visits the city's two commercially-run hostels where a very high level of unmet need exists. Much of his work entails providing basic help with personal hygiene in addition to assisting clients to access health care and alcohol services.

Criminal Justice Outreach - The Day Centre service is also brought to homeless people going through the Criminal Justice System. In addition to supporting people at court and in prison, the Wayside offers a Court diversion Scheme as an effective alternative to custody.

Home Support Services - The home support service enables clients to continue to live as independently as possible in their tenancies and prevents individuals from becoming homeless by offering:- help with budgeting and shopping; assistance with domestic tasks and personal hygiene; practical help with maintenance, decorating and supplying furniture and household items.

We are grateful to the following partners who help to fund the centre's operation.
